After studying fiction filmmaking at GVSU, he initially worked as a grip and electric on feature films, but soon gravitated back to his core interests: shooting and editing. This inspired him to start his own freelance business as a videographer and editor, which he continues to manage today. In addition to his freelance work, Dane holds a full-time position at a global marketing agency, producing high-impact content for high- profile clients. Here, he oversees every stage of video production— from on-set work to animation—working closely with copywriters, graphic designers, and project managers. Deeply fulfilled by his work, Dane believes it aligns perfectly with his life’s purpose. “GVSU taught me the importance of receiving and applying feedback, a crucial skill in any career, especially in an industry where constructive criticism is constant. Learning to handle it early in college prepared me for the professional world.” www.linkedin.com/in/ danekcovey Class of 2008 Assistant Vice President of Creative and Multimedia Grand Valley State University Allendale, Michigan During college, Bill worked at the PBS affiliate WGVU-TV as a Production Assistant, and in 1995 was hired as a Producer/ Director.
